Paula de Graaf, founder and hands-on coach, believes in total wellness and that care is taken to ensure individual needs and goals are kept in mind. Paula has been practising and training in the industry for over twenty years and is continually re-energising her programmes, keeping up to date with trends and equipment.
GRAVITY Training encompasses strength, endurance and cardio workouts, as well as Pilates inspired mindful movement classes. Total Gym is a variable resistance device that uses your body weight against the pull of gravity. You can train in all three planes of motion: front to back, side-to-side and rotational. Total Gym builds body strength by working major muscle groups together with the core stabilizers of the abdomen and back. Functional exercises create stronger, leaner muscles. They encourage the muscles of the body to work together imitating real life activities. Total Gym helps you improve your body shape and composition.
Mat Pilates focuses on the core, or the “powerhouse,” as Joseph Pilates called it. You’ve probably heard how essential the core is in maintaining the health of your body and deterring injury. For example, a strong core helps ward off back pain and makes daily chores more doable. When your core is strong, it serves as the center of power so your limbs don’t have to bear as much of the brunt of movement. Pilates mat exercises are based primarily around core strengthening and flexibility. Pilates referred to his system of exercise as “contrology” because it requires intense concentration for bodily control. It's possible to perform most Pilates routines with only a floor mat, letting the body act as resistance.
Pilates Barre is a high intensity style of pilates which offers a complete body workout performed at a ballet barre. Barre combines pilates, ballet and yoga inspired conditioning postures to strengthen and lengthen the entire body. Pilates Barre classes are loads of fun, fast paced and offer a great fusion of cardio and strength! Our barre classes are challenging however they are accessible to a range of ages and fitness levels as everyone is encouraged to take it at their own pace.
